Aunque no lo parezca, los mosquitos son polinizadores útiles. Los machos no se alimentan de sangre, sino de néctar, y participan en la polinización de plantas como orquídeas y el cacao. Además ayudan a mantener el equilibrio en las cadenas tróficas.
